Professor Park Joo Hee of the Asian Olympic Governance and Policy Major at Kookmin University's (President Jeong Seung Ryul) Olympic Council of Asia Graduate School of Sustainability and ESG received the Merit Award at the 37th Yungok Kim Un Yong Women Sports Grand Award ceremony held on Monday, January 26.

The Yungok Kim Un Yong Women Sports Grand Award, established in 1989 by the late Kim Un Yong, Vice President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), are Korea's first women's sports awards. They were created to honor the successful hosting of the 1988 Seoul Olympics and to promote the development of women's sports in Korea.

Professor Park Joo Hee of Kookmin University was recognized for her contributions as the first Korean woman to serve on the FINA Executive Board and as an international sports expert. She has elevated the international standing of Korean sports and expanded the role and leadership of female athletes.

She has consistently participated in policy and institutional discussions focused on sports governance, ethics, athlete protection, and creating a fair sports environment, particularly through her activities centered on international sports organizations. Drawing on her practical experience on the international stage, she has worked to bring about structural improvements and raise awareness to expand women's participation in sports and strengthen their leadership.

Professor Park stated, “I am deeply honored to receive this meaningful award,” adding, “I will continue to contribute to creating an environment where women and the next generation can grow sustainably, based on fairness and responsibility, in the international sports arena.”
