Professor Lee Kee Sung of the School of Mechanical Engineering was inaugurated as the 47th President of the Korean Ceramic Society in January 2026. Founded in 1957, the Korean Ceramic Society is a leading domestic materials science society with a history of approximately 70 years. It brings together experts in materials and components required across fields such as mechanical, electronic, chemical, and physical engineering, leading technological advancement both domestically and internationally. Recently, it has contributed to enhancing the competitiveness of various industries through convergence technologies in cutting-edge fields such as semiconductors, batteries, artificial intelligence, new energy, bio, aerospace, and quantum.

Professor Lee Kee Sung was elected as the next president in a direct vote by all members in 2025. He subsequently served as Senior Vice President and Vice President of Engineering Ceramics (Ceramics for Mechanical Structures) before assuming the presidency this year. In his inaugural address, President Lee Kee Sung stated his conviction: “I will create an environment where members can feel pride and confidence simply by publishing papers in our SCI Q1 international journal (Journal of the Korean Ceramic Society) and KCI-listed domestic journal (Ceramist), and presenting at academic conferences—an environment where networking among experts thrives.”
