A research team led by Lee Ga Young, a master's student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at our university's Graduate School (Advisor: Professor Shin Ju Young), received the Outstanding Paper Award at the 2025 Korean Society of Civil Engineers (KSCE) Convention.

The award-winning paper, titled “Kappa-Based Regional Frequency Analysis for Extreme Rainfall Estimation under Climate Change,” addresses the challenge that the accuracy of extreme value prediction decreases due to the limitations of the tail characteristics of the 3-parameter GEV distribution. The core achievement of this research is that it expanded the limitations of analyzing extreme rainfall data, which is difficult to analyze due to high variability. This award demonstrates our university's capabilities in the field of extreme rainfall analysis, a critical issue in the era of climate change.
