Professor Lee In Hyung of the Department of Bio Fermentation and Convergence Technology at Kookmin University (President Jeong Seung Ryul) received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Resources Award at the ‘2025 Bio Industry Day’ commemorative event held at The Westin Chosun Hotel on Friday, November 28.

Bio Industry Day is an event to share the achievements of the bio industry over the past year and promote active exchange and cooperation among industry, academia, and research institutions. It is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Korea Biotechnology Industry Organization, the Korea Planning & Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT), the Korea Bio-cluster Federation, and the Medical Device industry Promotion Foundation. The commendation is one of the awards given by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources to recognize outstanding contributions to human resource development in the bio field. Recipients are selected based on a comprehensive evaluation of their contributions, including operating customized training programs reflecting industry needs, fostering employment and entrepreneurship through talent development, and expanding industrial competitiveness.

Professor Lee In Hyung of the Bio Fermentation and Convergence Technology Department at Kookmin University has made significant contributions over the past several years to advancing the bio-talent development system. This includes cultivating advanced talent in the bio-field, establishing industry-tailored, practice-centered education programs, and strengthening industry-academia collaboration networks with companies and research institutes. He was particularly recognized for outstanding achievements in developing practical education models to connect students with employment and enhancing linked education in the fields of bio-process, analysis, and quality control (QC).

Professor Lee In Hyung stated, “I believe this award is not solely my personal achievement, but rather the result of the collective efforts of all members of the Bio Fermentation and Convergence Technology Department at Kookmin University.” He added, “Moving forward, I will spare no effort in further strengthening field-centered education based on close collaboration with companies and research institutions, and in supporting students to grow into core talents who will lead the future of the bio-industry.”
