Four students from the Department of Ceramics of the College of Design at our university—Kim Hyun Soo (Class of 2021), Lim Jong Hoon (Class of 2021), Han Kyung Hoon (Class of 2022), and Choi Ji Woon (Class of 2024)—have achieved the honor of being selected for the globally prestigious ‘2025 FRANZ Rising Star Scholarship (FRSS)’. This scholarship program is part of the ‘FRANZ Rising Star Project’ operated by Taiwan's premium ceramics brand FRANZ to discover and support future talents in ceramic art. It serves as a significant example demonstrating the outstanding creative capabilities and global competitiveness of Kookmin University's Department of Ceramics being recognized internationally.

This selection holds greater significance beyond simply awarding scholarships, as it provides recipients with extensive international activity opportunities. The top 10 finalists will participate in the Révélations exhibition in France, participation in the Jingdezhen Artist-in-Residence program in China, involvement in the British Ceramics Biennial, and collaborative activities with the Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche in Faenza in Italy.

Kookmin University expects this achievement to further elevate its international standing. By awarding the ‘Franz Rising Star Scholarship’ to participating students, the university anticipates this will serve as a crucial stepping stone for their future success on the global stage.
