Design Miami is a global design platform encompassing exceptional collectible design, built upon the diverse activities of its global network of galleries, designers, brands, experts, collectors, and enthusiasts. Each Design Miami fair showcases museum-quality 20th and 21st-century furniture, lighting, and objet d'art presented by the world's top professionally curated galleries, alongside immersive design collaborations with renowned brands. Established in 2005, Design Miami's flagship event, the Miami Beach Fair, takes place annually in December. Recently, Design Miami has expanded its global platform to include events reflecting local characteristics. These include the Paris Fair, held annually in October within unique local architectural spaces, and ‘Design Miami.In Situ,’ designed to celebrate and nurture regional design communities.

The Seoul Design Foundation collaborated with Design Miami to host the Asia premiere of 「Illuminated: A Spotlight on Korean Design」 at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) Igan Sumun Exhibition Hall, starting with a VIP preview on September 1st. This demonstrates the status of Korean craft and design, as well as Seoul's position as a global design industry hub.

This exhibition focuses on the originality of Korean craft and design, showcasing their broad artistic spectrum. It features over 170 works by 71 renowned domestic artists.
Notably, it includes two stainless steel vessels by Professor Chung Yong Jin of the Department of Metal Crafts and seven pieces of contemporary jewelry by Professor Lee Dong Chun. Furthermore, works by numerous alumni artists from the Department of Metalwork & Jewelry (Koh Hee Seung, Kim Jun Su, Shin Sun Yi, Shin Hea Lim, An Eun Kyung, Lee Kyou Hong, Lee Hak Min, Chun Eun Mi, Jung Jun Won, 9 artists in total) are also exhibited, attesting to the Department of Metalwork & Jewelry at Kookmin University's unparalleled reputation in the field of craft and design.
