Kookmin University College of Art made an agreement with Southern Guangzhou Performance Team in Guangzhou, China.

Kookmin University College of Art (Dean Hoon-Tae Kim) attended the agreement signing ceremony with the Southern Guangzhou Performance Team in Guangzhou, China for opening a dance preparatory course.

The Southern Guangzhou Performance Team is one of the three most famous national dance companies in China with 400 performers. Upon this agreement, the high school affiliated with the Southern Guangzhou Performance Team is going to open a dance preparatory course and send about 10 students every year to Kookmin University College of Art for admission to the School of Performing Arts as dance majors starting from the year 2012.

This program gained a foothold in the existing world of Chinese art to change the flow of the place for studying art abroad from Russia to Korea. Currently, the majors of international students in Korea are overly weighted towards the humanities and social sciences. Therefore, this preparatory course in Korea will be the nation’s first special art program ever.

Because this agreement was formally approved by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, the minister of the Ministry of Culture, the president of the National Dance Association, the president of the National Academy of Arts, the president and vice president of the Guangdong Agency for Cultural Affairs, the communications minister and vice-minister of the Administrative Board, the president and vice president of Russian National University of Arts, and other people of renown attended the ceremony.

Students who complete this course successfully will be guaranteed a future job as a researcher or a teacher with the Southern Guangzhou Performance Team, and they will surely play a leading role in the field of Chinese Art.
