Jo Gwang Mun (Computer Science ‘07), Kim Bong Jin (Electrical Engineering ‘04), and Roh Maria (Industrial Design ‘08) ranked first in a contest organized by Samsung Electronics.
The winners, with the hypothesis: 'What if there is an application to maintain good eyes?' which is a different point of view from the perspective of 'watching too much TV is not good for your eyes', developed an application named 'Smart Eye Training', capable of measuring your eye sight (myopia, astigmatism, retinal, and color-blindness) with various movements to relieve eye strain. This application, which makes you do eye movements and gives an eyesight test at the same time, received good reviews for original ideas and high quality. Jo Gwang Mun said: "We've worked around the clock for perfection, with incessant meetings since last April. I'm so happy to receive such a great award."
"I will strive to develop even more innovative apps with the TV as a prize." he added.
The ceremony was held at Samsung Delight Shop on November 4th and the app was also on display for two days. Currently, 'Smart Eye Training', as well as other works, can be seen at Samsung App, offering Korean and English versions. Furthermore, smart TV users can download this application from the web site.
