Kookmin University (President Jeong Seung Ryul) and its College of Software Convergence (Dean Hwang Sun Tae) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, with the ‘Zhongguancun Enterprise Korea Service Representative Office’ (Representative Lee Song Taek), the Korean representative office of Zhongguancun, China's leading innovation technology cluster, to promote industry-academic cooperation.

Zhongguancun, located in Haidian District, Beijing, China, is a national-level high-tech industrial development zone. It is often referred to as ‘China's Silicon Valley’ due to its high concentration of startups and technology innovation companies.

The Zhongguancun Enterprise Korea Service Representative Office is an official overseas office established to promote cooperation between the Zhongguancun ecosystem and overseas institutions. It supports technology exchange and joint ventures with Korea.

The two institutions agreed to collaborate in various areas, including: ▲Operating global talent development programs ▲Developing joint curricula and extracurricular programs ▲Supporting industry-academia linkage projects and startups ▲Jointly identifying startups and cooperating on acceleration programs ▲Connecting field training and internships ▲Building networks through Korea-China industry-academia cooperation forums and matching days ▲Activating technology and information exchange ▲Identifying other sustainable industry-academia-research cooperation models

Dean Hwang Sun Tae stated regarding this agreement, “Both sides plan to pursue technology exchange and human resource cooperation in a more systematic and continuous manner. Based on this, we expect to cultivate creative talent, achieve tangible industry-academia-research collaboration outcomes, and, in the long term, establish a crucial foundation for fostering an innovation ecosystem between Korea and China.” Attendees included Hwang Sun Tae (Dean of the College of Software Convergence), Yoon Jong Yung (Professor, College of Software Convergence), Lee Song Taek (Representative, Zhongguancun Enterprise Korea Service Representative Office), and Kim Sang Chul (Professor, College of Software Convergence).
