On Mar. 16, 2023, SK Innovation and Kookmin University (KMU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the development of green ESG designs at the SK Building in Jong-ro Gu, Seoul.
Through this agreement, SK Innovation and KMU seek to find effective and innovative ways to communicate various environmentally-friendly plans to the public through an industry-academia collaboration focused on “eco-friendly design.”
SK Innovation Vice Chairman Kim Jun and KMU President Yim Hong-Jae agreed to work together to extend the reach of SK Innovation's '‘green story” to other stakeholders by leveraging their respective strengths in eco-friendliness and design.
SK Innovation Vice Chairman Kim Jun and KMU President Yim Hong-Jae agreed to work together to extend the reach of SK Innovation's '‘green story” to other stakeholders by leveraging their respective strengths in eco-friendliness and design.
Both parties are planning to create characters, fonts, sculptures, and environmentally-friendly products that clearly and easily communicate SK Innovation's financial story of “Carbon to Green.”
The designs will focus on strengthening the branding and recognition of SK Innovation's various business divisions and ongoing projects, including Battery Metal Recycle (BMR), Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage (CCUS), Small Modular Reactor (SMR), automotive lightweighting material Unidirectional (UD) Tape, and Lithium-ion Battery Separator (LiBS).
SK Innovation and KMU are looking for effective ways to use the designs by turning them into "shared infrastructure" that can be used for projects related to the environment and social contributions.
To promote the results of the industry-academia collaboration and encourage people nationwide to be more environmentallyfriendly and reduce carbon emissions, KMU will organize a "Green Happiness Exhibition" (tentative title) in October at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Jung-gu, Seoul.
Kim Jun, Vice Chairman of SK Innovation, stated that the collaboration with KMU will inspire aspiring student artists who care about ESG and carbon reduction to express themselves creatively through concepts such as “Eco-friendliness,” “Carbon Reduction,” and “Green.” He added, “I hope this will be an opportunity to widely publicize the authenticity of SK Innovation's ESG management for carbon reduction efforts.”
