The NVH & Sound Design Lab (academic advisor: Hyeong-seok Guk) from the Department of Automotive Engineering in the School of Automotive Convergence in Kookmin University was appointed as the Collaborative Research Center (hereinafter CRC) of Hyundai Motor Company in recognition of the achievements realized in the research of noise and vibration, innovation, and professionalism specialized in automotive NVH area.
The Collaborative Research Center of Hyundai Motor Company was first planned and executed this year (2014) and unlike the general industry-university cooperation that is promoted in a short period of time for 1 ~ 2 years, it intends to cultivate human resource through consistent cooperation and research on core technologies for a long period of time (more than 6 years). Also having the CRC as the center, it promotes more advanced industry-university cooperation that enables dispatch of researchers and constant consultation.
As of September 2014, only 5 R&D institutes that were selected in various fields of automotive engineering are contracted with the Hyundai Motor Company and CRC and among the institutions of NVH industry, the NVH & Sound Design Lab in the Department of Automotive Engineering of Kookmin University is the first and the sole figure.
The signboard hanging ceremony was held on September 18th in the presence of researcher Gang-deok Yo and Dong-cheol Park from Namyang R&D center of the Hyundai Motor Company and Dean Seung-jin Heo of the School of Automotive Convergence in Kookmin University.
