Kookmin University and Microsoft concluded MOU for “Construction and operation of Microsoft cloud service for the formation of academic and research environment based on communication and cooperation” on the 11th. In this event, President Ji-soo Yoo of Kookmin University and President César Cernuda of Microsoft Asia Pacific were present.
The details of the MOU include the authorization to use the highest version of official Office for all Kookmin University students through Microsoft’s ‘Student Advantage Program’ and Office 365 that is a cloud service for the faculty, staff and students of Kookmin University ‘Office 365 Education.’ With this, the students attending Kookmin University are allowed to use the installation-type Office in five Mac or PCs as well as smartphone while attending the school.
Also through the use of ‘Office 365 Education,’ the faculty, staff, and students can use ▲ ‘Exchange Online’ with 25GB per person for the management of mails and schedule, ▲ cloud-based personal data storage 'OneDrive’ with 25GB per person, ▲ ‘SharePoint Online' that is a work space and document sharing service for team assignments, ▲ 'Lync Online' for messenger and video conference, and ▲ ‘Office Online’ that allows use of Office through web browser.
Office 365 Service is available from the second semester and through this cloud service, it is expected to serve a pivotal role for ‘reinforcement of competence and formation of communication and cooperative culture among Kookmin people’ along with Google apps service.
In addition, President César Cernuda of Microsoft Asia Pacific has a special lecture on “The Future Leaders of the World” in the Academic Conference Hall. The students showed great interest and support on the lectures and asked about the leadership of the new CEO Narayana Nadella and security of the cloud service.
